Wildtier & Lebensraum Exhibition - Impression #1

Wildtier & Lebensraum Exhibition

St. Lambrecht

Here you will be introduced to native wild animals and insights into interrelationships wildlife - habitat given. Animal tracks, damages, abnormalities and much more can be found in showcases. Neozoa (such as golden jackal, raccoon) and re-emerging species (such as beaver, otter) are dealt with separately.

Another exhibit focuses on native grouse (capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, and ptarmigan) and rock partridge, and discusses conservation and habitat issues. A collection of native butterflies from the 1970s demonstrates species decline.

Areas of the exhibition

-Wildlife Biology
-habitats and potential threats
-Anatomical, wildlife diseases, abnormalities
-Historical, wild animals in folk medicine

Visitors should also read (learn) from nature: Tracks, traces, loosings, or spruce cones "worked" by animals are examples of exhibits and guessing games. An annual theme (e.g. golden jackal, wild boar) introduces individual animals in more detail.

In summary, the permanent exhibition is intended to convey ecological knowledge about wild animals and their habitats as well as their interactions. Special attention will be paid to our local mountain area as well as to the dialogue between different user groups and multipliers, such as agriculture, forestry, hunting, tourism, education, NGO's and politics.
